Workshop 2 - Day 1

(25-7-2012)

Today was great.

Nearly everyone was present in class, which gave off a very good vibe indeed and to top that off we all had the opportunity to present our photo-documentary collection of images from semester 1. The opportunity to gain further feedback from Belinda and each other was also another nice part of being able to share our work with one another - i felt.

I must say that considering i had limited knowledge of what people were documenting, i was truly impressed by the level of work produced. There were also some shots that certainly displayed a very high level of skill.

After this we had a quick introductory run-down about what we can expect to do this semester by way of some printed handouts and a speech from Belinda and Dave. All of which seems exciting.

Before the end of class we took some time to work with our speedlites. Here are a few images i managed to produce, nothing special, but worth posting.

D.

WITHOUT FLASH
Subject is exposed well with available
light - nothing unusual to see.

WITH FLASH
Subject is slightly over-exposed by
the additional light produced from
electronic flash - unusual shadow
appears in image as well as a

new colour cast/temperature
due to the white balance not
being adjusted to FLASH.

WITH FLASH - off camera.
This is just a creative portrait of Hayley Boyle that I
did towards the end of class. I had my speedlite off
to the right with a remote triggering device attached.
I like the mood/feel of the overall result.
